Who is God,
have you ever thought of Him in this way...

Isa 66:10 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn over her;

Isa 66:11 that ye may suck and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.

Isa 66:12 For thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream: and ye shall suck thereof; ye shall be borne upon the side, and shall be dandled upon the knees.

Isa 66:13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

Isa 66:14 And ye shall see it, and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like the tender grass: and the hand of Jehovah shall be known toward his servants; and he will have indignation against his enemies.

When we look at this passage I believe we can learn a wonderful thought.
When we look at God in the Bible He is often referred to as Father, as a God with true fatherly qualities. And He truly is.

However, when I look at this passage I see God being portrayed as a God with motherly qualities. This passage talks about being "dandled on the knees "and that God is "like a mother who comforts" and so comforts the great Jehovah. Doesn't this give you goosebumps?
When I look at the Apostle Paul, he wrote some interesting words too

1Th 2:7 But we were gentle in the midst of you, as when a nurse cherisheth her own children:

1Th 2:8 even so, being affectionately desirous of you, we were well pleased to impart unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were become very dear to us.

1Th 2:9 For ye remember, brethren, our labor and travail: working night and day, that we might not burden any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.

1Th 2:10 Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and righteously and unblameably we behaved ourselves toward you that believe:

1Th 2:11 as ye know how we dealt with each one of you, as a father with his own children, exhorting you, and encouraging you, and testifying,

1Th 2:12 to the end that ye should walk worthily of God, who calleth you into his own kingdom and glory
.

In this passage we see how Paul describes his conduct among the believers.
He was like a nurse who cherisheth her own childen and he was also like a Father among them, exhorting and encouraging them.

We understand from this passage that the conduct of Paul was like a nurse, a nurse was a caretaker for children. She was like a mother. Mothers are very special to most of us.
Mothers can give a love to her children that cannot be surpassed by anybody else.

A mother can give love in such an affectionate way, mothers have always been dear to even the cruelest of men.

When we think of unconditional love we think of mothers who do all to love her children.

Paul was like a father and a mother at the same time. And so is God. He comforts like a mother comforts.

God is spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. (John 4: 24)

We understand from the Bible that God our Father is not men like us.
Christ put on flesh and blood, but the Father never became men like we are. So, God is spirit.

However, in His quality as God He has both fatherly and motherly qualities.
He comforts like a mother comforts, He takes us on the knee and make us sit with Him.

He holds us and cherisheth us.
When we look at Christ, it says that he nourisheth and cherisheth the church. (Eph. 5)

In Him we also see fatherly and motherly qualities. He is the head of the church, but he also nourisheth and cherisheth the church.

God wants to hold us as no one else can. God wants to cherish us as no one else can.
It is no wonder that only in Him we can be complete and whole. Complete and whole in Him and Him alone.

In this world we can never find a friendship so true as He gives. He gave His only begotten Son and in that His love was demonstrated.
He loves us with a fatherly and motherly love and that in the most true-est form.
Would you let yourself be loved by Him in ways that no human being can ever love you?
